Tejs Vegge becomes a member of The Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters

On June 9, 2026, Professor Tejs Vegge from DTU Energy officially joined the Academy’s Class of Natural Sciences as a new member. He is thus one of the 30 researchers joining the historic academy this year, which works to strengthen research for the benefit of society.

In his daily work, Tejs Vegge helps drive the green transition forward through AI-accelerated materials research. His work takes place at the intersection of physics, chemistry, data science, and laboratory automation, with the goal of developing sustainable energy materials for technologies such as Power-to-X and next-generation batteries.

A central challenge in this field is that future materials must meet many conflicting demands: they must be efficient, inexpensive, and stable, while also being based on sustainable, accessible raw materials. Traditional experimental approaches are often too slow to meet climate goals, and it is in this context that the professor's methods play a crucial role.

As a new member of the Academy, he looks forward to joining an interdisciplinary community where he will, among other things, contribute his expertise in 'AI for Science'. Furthermore, he will use the platform to strengthen research-based communication in the debate on the green transition, just as he looks forward to participating in important discussions on research ethics, data, and Europe's technological position.
