Highlights 2024
In 2024, #TeamCAPeX has grown to more than 50 members, including a diverse group of more than 30 PhDs and postdocs. Our growth stems from a strong recruitment strategy and a commitment to fostering inclusivity and global collaboration while prioritizing diversity and gender balance across our staff. CAPeX has also celebrated several significant scientific and organizational milestones, ranging from the inauguration of our new home at DTU in the Climate Challenge Laboratory and the opening of our Transdisciplinary P2X Discovery Lab to new fundamental insights and the design of new catalysts and electrolytes for water electrolysis and selective electrocatalytic reduction of CO> into sustainable fuels and chemicals.
We have established new collaborations with leading international institutions and industry partners, further enriching our capabilities and propelling us toward groundbreaking discoveries and scalable P2X solutions. This includes the bi-directional exchange of staff and our postdoc and PhDs (our #Power2Xperts), organizing high-level international workshops, and visits by leading international partners giving inspirational CAPeX Pioneer lectures, helping to create a vibrant international environment, which is expected to grow even further in 2025, and collaborations with start-ups and global industry leaders.
Beyond our research efforts, CAPeX has also been deeply engaged in public outreach and knowledge dissemination, helping to shape the national and international dialogue and decision-making on Power2X, advanced materials, and Al solutions, e.g., in the new Technology Council for Advanced Materials and the Al for Science and Science for Al initiatives in the European Commission, high-level meetings at the IEA, and participation in debates in the Danish Parliament and leading national organizations. We also strive to share our research with broader audiences through participation in public events, podcasts, outreach, written and electronic media collaborations, and publications inspiring action and awareness. CAPeX remains fully committed to assisting and discussing the potential benefits and the remaining scientific and technological steps needed to develop planetarily and economically sustainable P2X solutions.
Our organizational setup is fully operational, including meetings with our high-level International Advisory Board, Stakeholder Forum, and University Leadership Board. We have also extended our Steering Committee to include two new tenure track talents to help us further develop the science and organizational part in CAPeX.
Furthermore, our commitment to research integrity, data management, and data sharing underscores our responsibility to uphold the highest research conduct and transparency standards. By integrating efficient data management practices into our research activities, we ensure the accessibility, integrity, and reusability of our (FAIR) data, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and technological solutions.
New awards and grants have also been added to the portfolio of CAPeX in 2024, including an ERC Synergy grant (SAFER Grid) in collaboration with RWTH Aachen, looking at the future grid and P2X. Additional national grants, career grants, and recognitions of our younger talents, such as inclusion in Forbes 30-under-30 in Europe and being awarded pilot access to the new Gefion NVIDIA GPU supercomputer to use Al foundation models to simulate and optimize enzymes to enhance the efficiency in reducing CO> to sustainable chemicals.
